Everything must be done to reduce Russia's ability to produce weapons - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

In order to defeat the Russian aggressor, the unity of the partner states in the fundamental issues of imposing sanctions against Russia and accelerating the supply of weapons to Ukraine is necessary. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with media representatives following the negotiations with President of Latvia Egils Levits in Lviv.

The Head of State emphasized the inadmissibility of compromises in the sanctions policy towards the aggressor state.

"We are grateful for the advocacy to our Baltic friends - Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, as well as Poland. These countries always provide maximum support in the European Union," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, the President noted that some EU member states do not have a firm position on sanctions and are inclined to compromise on this issue.

"This makes a quick victory impossible, because the military structure of the Russian Federation depends on it. We must do everything to prevent them from producing the amount of weapons they came to us with," the Head of State emphasized.

He expressed confidence that Ukraine and its partners will win the war and stop Russia's aggression. Without a defeat in Ukraine, Russia will not stop its aggressive actions in the world.

The President noted that partner states can discuss the issue of supplying Ukraine with specific types of weapons in an open mode, without any restrictions.

"Artillery is number one. This is what we need. Ammunition, long-range rockets to stop Russia. Not to shoot at the territory of Russia, but to drive them out of our territory, which is fair," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President also emphasized that Ukraine needs military aircraft and training for Ukrainian crews.

"Today we discussed where our partners from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia can help us in training missions. We need aircraft," the Head of State added.
