Strengthening Air Defense, Defense Cooperation, and Pilot Training: President's First Meeting with the New Prime Minister of the Netherlands

During the NATO Summit in Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had his first in-person meeting with the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof. The President expressed hope for a dynamic and productive dialogue.

The leaders condemned the Russian attack on the "Okhmatdyt" hospital and other civilian facilities in Ukraine. They discussed the importance of strengthening Ukrainian air defense before the start of the school year and heating season, as well as other defense needs of our country, particularly the equipping of additional brigades.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Dick Schoof also focused on developing defense cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting, they also discussed the necessity of transitioning to long-term planning of the training of Ukrainian pilots.

The President thanked the Netherlands for its steadfast principled position in supporting Ukraine and its path to the EU and NATO, and he noted the Kingdom's leadership in the fighter jet coalition.
