Despite all possible future challenges, Ukraine will move towards victory and de-occupation of all its territories. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with media representatives following talks with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson in Kyiv.
According to the Head of State, the situation on the eastern frontline, particularly in the area of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, is very difficult today. However, the heroic defenders of the city are steadfastly holding their positions and destroying the military potential of the invaders.
"Of all the situations in our country, the most difficult and hottest is in the Bakhmut direction. I would also add the Vuhledar direction. In general, it is not easy in the east of Ukraine. But it is absolutely fairly said: Bakhmut Fortress. And this fortress is made of living people. But the people there are strong, they stand and realize that they are a fortress for Ukraine to prepare for the de-occupation of all territories," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President emphasized that the defenders of Bakhmut have constant support. The Head of State informed that he is in touch with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the commanders of the directions.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the past year was the most difficult in the history of independent Ukraine.
"There will be more challenges ahead for our people and for the resilience of our state. But I believe that this was the most difficult period in our lives. It is important not to forget all those who are standing today and defending our borders, people and homes, all those who are our friends and who have been with us all this time. We must not forget anyone. And we must express gratitude to all," he said.
"We want this year to be victorious, we believe in it and we are doing everything for it," the President of Ukraine emphasized.
