More than 200 emergency rooms will have appeared in Ukraine by the end of the year - President

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a task to ensure the functioning of more than 200 emergency rooms in the country by the end of the year.

“We have a lot of hospitals all over Ukraine, and we have found the money that the ministry (Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine - ed.) didn’t have. 220 hub hospitals will be renovated this year. And this is just the beginning, people will definitely see it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed during his communication with media representatives in Boryspil.

For her part, Minister of Healthcare Zoriana Skaletska assured that all hospitals having contracts with the National Health Service, regardless of their status, would receive funding for medical services.

"In general, it's 72 billion hryvnias, which we allocated to the National Health Service for medical services," she said.

The Minister of Healthcare stressed that the establishment of hub hospitals did not mean the closure of other medical institutions. These will be multidisciplinary hospitals to which patients will be promptly sent for emergency medical care, and where specialists of different profiles are available "to provide medical aid as quickly as possible and save lives”.

"Each region has a hospital council that can review its emergency referral routes and provide suggestions as to what hub hospitals they should have," Zoriana Skaletska noted.
