Over the past 24 hours, law enforcers together with representatives of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety (Ukrtransbezpeka) checked 18 size-weight control points in Ukraine. 6.6 thousand inspections of trucks were carried out. This was announced by Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy at a conference call chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Head of State asked whether penalties had been imposed on vehicles that had violated the relevant norms.

"The formula "build here - destroy there" will not work. How can we rebuild and build Ukrainian roads if trucks destroy new ones and ruin old ones? We need to communicate with companies and carefully control the movement of trucks," the President stressed.

The Minister reported that over the day of intensive inspections, fines totaling more than UAH 1.7 million were imposed. And in the Mykolaiv region, three attempts of bypassing the size-weight control points by overloaded trucks were recorded.

According to the National Police, every second truck is overloaded. Most of them are in the Kherson, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

Officials agreed to improve the conditions for inspections, the operation of equipment, prevent its frequent overheating, increase the number of personnel for inspections, improve their working conditions. The National Police also said that cameras were already being installed to monitor the inspection process.
