President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on a working trip to the Dnipropetrovsk region for the second day. The President got himself acquainted with the plan of the reconstruction of the “Metalurg” sports complex of the Children and Youth Sports School № 1. This sports complex is the largest in Kryvyi Rih. Its renovation will take place in the framework of the program of the President of Ukraine "Great Construction".
During the inspection, Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked to provide the sports complex with modern equipment within the reconstruction, as well as to involve professional coaches in its work. In addition, the Head of State stressed the need to include in the reconstruction plan a modern park located next to the stadium, for the whole area to be a place of rest not only for athletes or sports fans, but also for other citizens.
In total, the stadium will accommodate almost 16.5 thousand people. The Head of State noted that it is necessary to adjust the number of seats as much as possible so that up to 30 thousand spectators could be here.
"I just remember that we had 30,000 people. It is not only an issue of matches. In Kryvyi Rih I don't see any big arena for events or concerts. It seems to me that the largest arena for 16 thousand people is not enough for Kryvyi Rih," the President said.
Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit noted that this facility is very important for the region, because it will become a kind of magnet.
"It will be not just a football stadium. It will be the development of sports throughout the region. Because children will train there. And it will be good, because we take children from the streets, they will go in for sports," the minister said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the construction and repair of such infrastructure facilities as Metalurg will allow teenagers to realize their ambitions and passion. As a result, the social life of Ukrainians will be more progressive and healthier.
"We want to show our people: when the government is responsible, when it does not think only about its interest, as was typical for various politicians in our history, the result can be seen in the form of such updated large facilities," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a visit to the sports complex.
The President also stressed that throughout Ukraine it is necessary to create even more modern conditions for sports, for all types of physical activity.
