Payment document for utilities cannot be a sentence for people - President

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes the necessity of reducing tariffs for heating given the decrease of gas prices.

“We know that gas prices have fallen by almost 30%. And, unfortunately, tariffs haven’t. Ukrainians do not understand this,” the Head of State told during a meeting of the Council for Development of Communities and Territories.

The President stressed that payment document for utilities could not be a sentence for people.

"They cannot pay 50, 60 or 70 percent of their salaries," the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commissioned, and the government has already adopted a decree that will allow to calculate prices for heating taking into account reduced gas prices. This mechanism will ensure fair tariffs.

For his part, Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk told that the given resolution would allow to adjust the market price for gas in the regions.

"In fact, you can adjust what is in the payment document to the difference between the market price and the price that is set in the tariff today," Oleksiy Honcharuk said, addressing the meeting participants.

This means that payments for heating will decrease by an average of 300-400 UAH per month, starting in December. At the same time in the spring, the already paid maintenance bills for heating in the autumn months will be recalculated.
