Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with directors of Eastern Europe departments from the foreign ministries of the Nordic-Baltic countries (NB8) during their working visit to Kyiv.
Ihor Zhovkva expressed gratitude to the Nordic-Baltic states for their comprehensive support of Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression and for their significant contributions to enhancing security across Europe.
“We highly value your countries’ contributions to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Particularly important are the decisions to further increase such support. We count on the contribution of Nordic and Baltic countries to purchasing weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers and creating new opportunities for our defense industry,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the President’s Office.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Defense Forces’ priority needs, particularly for modern air defense systems of various ranges, to protect Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this winter.
Special attention was given to implementing the Victory Plan. Ihor Zhovkva thanked the countries represented for their firm support of Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU, which are the pillars of Ukraine's victory. The parties exchanged views on the next joint steps in these areas.
“Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO is a strategic choice of our state. It is a key security guarantee not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire region,” said Ihor Zhovkva.
