On the eve of Education Workers' Day, Olena Kovalska, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, took part in the ceremony of awarding prizes to the winners of international student Olympiads and their teachers, as well as to the laureates of the all-Ukrainian Teacher of the Year competition.
The event was also attended by Olha Budnyk, Adviser – Commissioner of the President on the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science, and Sports, and Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science.
On behalf of the Head of State, Olena Kovalska congratulated the students who had won international Olympiads and the teachers who had prepared them.
“What inspires confidence in tomorrow, hope for recovery, is our very talented children and teachers who are ready to fully invest themselves in education and training. These achievements are even more significant because our children are forced to study to the sound of air raid sirens, often under enemy fire, sometimes with no electricity,” she said.
This year, 32 Ukrainians participated in seven international Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, geography, and computer science. They won 13 silver and 12 bronze medals, as well as two honorable mentions. The winners and their teachers will receive prizes of the President of Ukraine worth UAH 100,000 and UAH 50,000.
The ceremony also honored the winners of the Teacher of the Year competition, which this year was held in the nominations of Geography, Fine Arts, Ukrainian Language and Literature, and Physics.
