Victory for Ukraine is not only the liberation of all its territories from the Russian occupiers, but also bringing to justice all those responsible for the crime of aggression against our country. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Italian media during an official visit to Italy.
Answering the question, the Head of State noted that the de-occupation of Ukrainian territories alone would not be enough for those of our citizens who lost their children in the war.
"I know people who said to me, when I awarded their children posthumously... They said: “Not only our native land. Do not forgive it. Those who gave the orders must be held to account. We want a trial. God's judgment is not enough for us - we want real justice. We demand it, we will not be able to sleep." These are old people who buried their young children who went to war and died for the sake of the state," he said.
Therefore, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for these people and for him as President of Ukraine, victory is not only the return of territories.
"We are a civilized state and we want peace, but a just peace. And we want fair and just sentences for the murderers," the President emphasized.
He also noted that Russian aggression can be different - in the form of not only missiles, but also blackmail, including energy blackmail. The Head of State warned that if Ukraine loses the war, Russian aggression will go further and spread to NATO and the European Union, and then European societies will have to send their children and parents to war.
"I am ready for a pragmatic conversation. I believe that your society should be ready and should know that it is better to help Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
