On NBC's "Meet the Press", Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told about what should be included in the aid package approved by the U.S. Congress for Ukraine the day before.
The Head of State thanked the U.S. House of Representatives, both parties, Speaker Mike Johnson, President Joseph Biden and the entire American people for supporting Ukraine.
"We have been waiting for six months. But we didn't just sit around, we all fought together. I would like to thank our entire team and the entire team in the United States of America who did everything to ensure a positive decision. It will definitely help us a lot today. I believe that this support will effectively strengthen Ukraine and the Armed Forces," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that thanks to this support, we will have a chance at victory. But for this, it is important to fill the package with what Ukraine needs most. We need scarce weapons to repel the Russian invaders.
"This includes artillery, strategic long-range weapons, ATACMS – all of this is important to avoid losing people at the front. The reason we are losing them is because we don't have the appropriate long-range weapons. This, as well as air defense, which is so important, is certainly a priority today," the Head of State said.
According to the President, Ukraine is now waiting for a positive decision from the Senate and hopes to receive the aid without delay.
"After stabilization, we have every chance to regain the initiative. To do this, we must have the appropriate weapons," Volodymyr Zelenskyy summarized.
