The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska held a working meeting with representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The event was dedicated to the discussion of plans and projects for 2021.
At the meeting the parties discussed the following areas of cooperation:
-
Modernization of the food system in schools.
-
Ensuring equal rights for boys and girls.
-
Creating a barrier-free environment for children to build social inclusion.
-
Promoting a healthy lifestyle among children and young people.
-
Raising public awareness of children's rights.
"The directions of my program activities are directly related to children - their nutrition, barrier-free development, equality of rights. That is why it was very important for me to enlist the support of UNICEF, which is considered the voice of children and youth all over the world,” the First Lady of Ukraine said.
For their part, UNICEF representatives said they could provide technical and analytical support for school nutrition reform, support a communication campaign on healthy lifestyle, and share the expertise and experience of other countries in building a barrier-free space in Ukraine.
"In these difficult times of a pandemic, children need special attention. We are pleased to continue our cooperation with the First Lady of Ukraine on important programs that will affect the future of children and youth in Ukraine. Promoting a healthy lifestyle, improving child nutrition programs, social inclusion and children's rights are topics we will work on together in the new year,” Representative of UNICEF in Ukraine Lotta Sylwander emphasized.
Key events and vectors of cooperation will be agreed in the near future.
