First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska took part in the event on the occasion of the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression and the Day of Remembrance of Children Who Were Killed as a Result of the Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The event took place on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War Memorial Complex.
The attendees viewed the “Unwritten Books of Life” exhibition and also put toys at the “Martyrology of Children” location, honoring the memory of young Ukrainians killed by the aggressor state of Russia.
The President's wife emphasized that 550 children have been killed in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“I once again appeal to the international community: help us save our children. We cannot measure the value of their lives by the cost of air defense systems. Therefore, I appeal to everyone here: our children need to be saved. This salvation is a protected sky. This salvation is punishment for their killers. This salvation is the liberation of 19 thousand abducted children from Russian captivity. This salvation is the cessation of aggression,” Olena Zelenska said.
The memory of the deceased children was honored with a moment of silence.
The event was organized by Advisor – Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation Daria Herasymchuk. The event was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine, Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown, and other representatives of international organizations, heads and representatives of UN agencies in Ukraine, ambassadors and government officials.
