First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska met with Minister of Education and Research of Estonia Kristina Kallas in Kyiv.
Olena Zelenska thanked the Government, the President, and the First Lady of Estonia for their support and the opportunity to implement joint projects. In particular, during the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of child protection initiatives and collaboration with the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
“Thanks to Estonia's support, one of the large families with many children, which lost their house because of the Russian invasion, received a new one built by the team of my Foundation. As part of your own project, you are building three houses at once for large foster families in the Zhytomyr region. This is an incredible support and an example for other partners,” the wife of the President of Ukraine said.
The meeting also addressed support for the mental health of children and adolescents.
“Estonia has a network of psychological support centers offering psychological counseling for children, youth and families. This model could serve as a framework for integrating similar centers into Ukraine's school psychological assistance system,” the First Lady noted.
In addition, Olena Zelenska spoke about implementing new social and emotional training programs in Ukrainian schools and Ukraine's accession to the School Meals Coalition. Notably, on November 12-13, our country will host a regional summit within this Coalition.
“At the summit, the priority of providing children with quality meals in Europe and its impact on children's health will be the main topics of discussion,” the First Lady added.
The President's wife invited Estonia to participate in the event.
