During her visit to Italy and the Vatican to attend the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska held a meeting with the First Lady of Austria, Doris Schmidauer.
Olena Zelenska thanked the President of Austria and his spouse for their support of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. Alexander Van der Bellen, in particular, condemned the Russian shelling of Sumy, which claimed the lives of 35 children and adults.
“A few days ago, the Austrian Parliament adopted a resolution in support of Ukrainian children — their protection and return from Russian captivity. Thank you for all the consistent support we feel from your country,” said the First Lady of Ukraine.
She also noted Doris Schmidauer’s regular participation in the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. The First Ladies of Ukraine and Austria discussed joint projects that could unite the community, which has already evolved into an effective platform.
