During her trip to Rivne, the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska visited the Administrative Service Centre.
She noted the implementation of the barrier-free principles right at the entrance to the building. There are stairs with handrails, parking spaces, and a ramp. Information is available in Braille for the visually impaired and in sign language for the hearing impaired.
Back in the August of last year, this Administrative Service Centre launched the “Veteran” Administrative Service project, which allows war veterans, their families and relatives of the fallen defenders of Ukraine to receive all the necessary services in a "one-stop shop" mode.
"It's good that we already have places like this. Every public space should adopt this approach. We shouldn't be surprised by comfort, but take it for granted and see it as the only right solution," Olena Zelenska emphasized.
The President's wife also visited the Adaptive Sports Centre founded by Oleksandr Oleksandrov.
The Centre has developed a thirty-day support program for military personnel and veterans called Hope Wins, which aims to help them recover from injuries and wounds.
One of the visitors of the Sports Centre is Andriy Surzhuk, a senior operator with the Special Forces Group of the 3rd Separate Special Purpose Regiment of Sviatoslav the Brave. He learned about the initiative because the cafe he opened with the help of the of Government's Own Business grant program is located next to the facility.
"I am excited to meet the participants and the founders of this inspiring sports facility. These activists are ready to share their experience with those who are willing to open similar adaptive sports centres. After all, every city and community needs those now to help veterans rehabilitate and live their full lives," the First Lady said.
