Oleksiy Dniprov met with representatives of the boxing community of Ukraine and the WBC

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Dniprov met with representatives of the boxing community of Ukraine and one of the most prestigious boxing organizations in the world - the World Boxing Council.

Oleksiy Dniprov thanked the WBC representatives for their support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, in particular for their principled position on the ban on participation in competitions for Russians and Belarusians.

During the videoconference, President of the World Boxing Council Mauricio Sulaimán expressed full support for Ukraine in its struggle for independence and liberation of its territories from Russian invaders. The WBC President also assured of a further ban on participation of Russian and Belarusian boxers in any competitions involving the organization and noted that work is underway to remove the Russian flag from the WBC logos.

In addition, he said, it is planned to help Ukraine rebuild sports facilities destroyed by the aggressor.

Mykola Kovalchuk, Head of the WBC official representative office in Ukraine, and Ihor Faniyan, WBC Advisor, spoke about the humanitarian aid provided by the organization to medical institutions, displaced persons, orphans and the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the WBC Cares Ukraine charity project.

Mykhailo Zavyalov, President of the National League of Professional Boxing of Ukraine and member of the WBC Board of Directors, and Oleh Kuderov, Vice President of the NLPBU, informed about the work to further impose tough sanctions on athletes from Russia and Belarus, as well as about steps to restore and develop professional boxing in Ukraine.

Mauricio Sulaimán asked to hand over the iconic boxing attributes and personal belts of the WBC and WBC Ukraine champions to the President of Ukraine with sincere wishes of a speedy victory.

Oleksiy Dniprov invited Mauricio Sulaimán to visit Ukraine.
