Only by joint efforts is it possible to work out effective actions and achieve the deoccupation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the opening of the inaugural summit of the Crimea Platform in Kyiv.

"Our country alone will never be able to return Crimea. We need effective support at the international level and support at a new level for the deoccupation of the Ukrainian peninsula… The synergy of our efforts should force Russia to sit down at the negotiating table on the return of Crimea," the President stressed.

He also noted that without proper security in the Black Sea, the return of the peninsula is unlikely.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that joint efforts managed to suspend Russia's armed aggression in Donbas, but so far failed to return Crimea to Ukraine.

"The temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by Russia began on February 20, 2014 and has been going on for 2741 days already. Too much, to be honest, wasted time. We must not lose any more days. I am very glad that we launched our platform. Ukraine together with you, our friends, international partners - participants of the Crimea Platform begins to write a new chapter in the history of Ukraine, in the history of the Ukrainian Crimea. This is a chapter about deoccupation. After all, deoccupation is the ultimate goal of the Crimea Platform," the President stressed.

"The occupation of the Crimean peninsula began in Moscow. We will definitely start the deoccupation of Crimea in Kyiv," the Head of State added.
