As part of the President's initiative to provide housing for the servicemen – Heroes of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented apartment certificates to the Heroes of Ukraine and the family members of the fallen warriors upon whom this title was conferred posthumously.
The ceremony took place at the Mariyinsky Palace in Kyiv.
"In a free Kyiv, in the Mariyinsky Palace, we continue our tradition of honoring and appreciating the warriors of Ukraine. Those who defend Ukraine on land, in the sky, and in our Ukrainian Black Sea. Our heroes, who have proved that Ukrainians, through their extraordinary deeds and strength, are capable of steering history in the right direction. Ukraine would not have withstood if it had not been for people like you, our Heroes, if it had not been for such courage of the Ukrainian people," the President said, addressing the attendees.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukrainians know how to overcome circumstances, and our warriors have the courage to defeat Russia's viciousness.
"And we will surely defeat it. Despite all Russia's missile attacks, despite any intentions of the enemy, we will definitely defend our country. And may an independent and strong Ukraine always be grateful to everyone who fought for it, everyone who worked for it, everyone who can say that Ukrainian life is their achievement, their result," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The attendees observed a moment of silence in memory of all Ukrainian warriors, all Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the preservation of the state.
The President presented certificates for apartments to heroic warriors from the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Captain Vasyl Boyechko, Captain Illia Verhun, Senior Lieutenant Oleksandr Kovalenko, Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Kruhlov, Colonel Mykola Palas, Senior Sergeant Andriy Vodopyanchuk, Lieutenant Colonel Oleh Dmytruk, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Yurkovskyi, as well as Staff Sergeant of the National Guard Oleksandr Kostenko, Senior Sergeant of the National Guard Dmytro Finashyn, Staff Sergeant of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Dmytro Kushnir, Soldier of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Ivan Kyshenko and Master Sergeant of the Civil Protection Service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Koshovets.
During the ceremony, Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kushnir handed over a military chevron to the President.
The families of the fallen Heroes of Ukraine also received apartment certificates from the Head of State: relatives of Senior Soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Sova, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Maryniak, Junior Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Nesolionyi, Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Otserklevych, Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Parkhomenko, Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevhen Lysenko, Senior Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Denys Richter, Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Khyzhniak, Master Sergeant of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Makarenko, Captain of the National Guard Vadym Manko, Junior Sergeant of the National Guard Oleksandr Tymchenko, Colonel of the National Guard Vladyslav Allerov, Captain of the National Guard Vitaliy Hrytsayenko, Lieutenant of the National Guard Vitaliy Koval, Senior Lieutenant of the National Guard Serhiy Barsukov and Colonel of the State Border Guard Service Vitaliy Kucheriavyi.
Pursuant to the President's initiative, the state will provide housing to all Ukrainian soldiers and officers upon whom the title of Hero of Ukraine has been conferred since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, and to family members of those upon whom the title has been conferred posthumously.
