President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated border guards on the 17th anniversary of the establishment of the intelligence body of the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"You know better than anyone how difficult the situation in the world is today and how difficult it is in Ukraine. That is why the activity of border intelligence is extremely important for each of us,” the President said during a visit to the SBGS Information Department.
He noted that due to the efforts of professional intelligence officers, Ukraine knows about the enemy's plans, in particular about the provocations being prepared on the state border of Ukraine, and about the attempts to violate it.
"Information obtained by you in a timely manner, analytics, forecasts and constructive proposals are crucial for the leadership of the state in making important strategic, timely and sometimes even urgent decisions," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State also reminded that intelligence officers, just as all border guards, were among the first to bear the burden of confronting the aggressor in the east of Ukraine.
The attendees honored the memory of the border guards who died defending the borders and sovereignty of our state with a moment of silence .
The President noted that border intelligence, like other intelligence units, should be constantly developed and improved.
"The benchmark should be the standards of the special services of NATO member states. This is the key to your successful work in all major areas. In particular, the participation of intelligence in achieving peace in Donbas," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
According to him, in order to cope with the new challenges, it is necessary to promptly improve the quality and reliability of intelligence information, improve cooperation with other intelligence units and restore active measures of influence to uphold Ukrainian interests abroad.
The President presented state awards and conferred military ranks.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also got himself acquainted with the work of the Information Department of the State Border Guard Service.
