Our Shared European Security Requires Significant Investments from Every Country – Ihor Zhovkva

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with ambassadors from the Nordic-Baltic Eight: Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.

Ihor Zhovkva expressed gratitude for the support provided to Ukraine and the assistance extended to Ukrainians in Northern Europe since the first days of Russia’s full-scale aggression.

The discussion focused on strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and overall European security. Ihor Zhovkva outlined Ukraine’s key and urgent military needs, expectations for further assistance, and priority areas for expanding cooperation.

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President highlighted Denmark’s leadership in financing the production of long-range drones and missiles in Ukraine and called on other countries to increase investments in domestic arms production.

“We appreciate the contribution of the countries that are involved in the procurement of weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers based on the Danish model. Our common European security requires significant investments from each country. We would be grateful to your capitals for the relevant decisions,” he said.

The meeting also addressed the need to tighten sanctions against all strategic sectors that enable Russia to fund its war. Ihor Zhovkva commended the steps taken by the Nordic-Baltic Eight against Russia’s shadow tanker fleet and called for a substantial increase in restrictive measures.

Special attention was given to security guarantees for Ukraine and the role of each partner country in ensuring their reliability.

The parties agreed on a schedule of high-level contacts set to take place soon.
