At the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv, Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine

During a working trip to Lviv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of Ukraine's defenders perished in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak and his deputies, as well as Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, paid tribute to the fallen warriors together with the Head of State.

The President and the leadership of the Office of the President laid flowers at the graves of the heroes buried at the Field of Mars at the Lychakiv Cemetery. These are soldiers and sergeants fallen in battles with the Russian occupiers in the spring of 2022 and early 2023.

In particular, the participants of the ceremony honored the memory of Maksym Vasylkevych from Lviv, who performed combat missions in the ATO area in the east of Ukraine for three years, and after the full-scale invasion of Russia returned from abroad and fought the enemy as part of the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after General-Corporal Marko Bezruchko; Oleksiy Lion, a native of Rubizhne, Luhansk region, who fought as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo; Dmytro Sydoruk, an internationally recognized master of sports in archery, junior sergeant of the 24th separate mechanized brigade.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke with the mother of Lieutenant Pavlo Shcherbyna, who was the commander of a separate grenade launcher platoon, participated in the liberation of Kherson, and later fought in the Bakhmut sector. He perished on December 15, 2022.

The Lychakiv Military Cemetery is a military burial ground in Lviv. Since April 2022, the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war are buried in its central part.
