During a working trip to Kherson region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid a visit to one of the units of the Kherson border guard detachment and congratulated the servicemen on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Intelligence Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The Head of State held a meeting on the current situation and conditions of service of Ukrainian border guards in the frontline regions, particularly in Kherson region.
Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deyneko reported on the specifics of border guards' work, their successes and problematic issues that require attention.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the border guards – intelligence officers on their professional holiday.
"You have been doing a great job, performing a great service – a powerful service. For 20 years, almost 10 years of which have been a war against the occupier. Thank you for serving Ukraine and Ukrainians," he emphasized.
The President wished the border guards to defeat the enemy and save themselves and their brothers-in-arms.
"I want to thank your parents for raising such courageous people, and I wish your wives, husbands, loved ones to stay close to you. I want to thank them for giving you this courage," the Head of State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that those who gave their lives for Ukraine will always remain in our hearts and minds.
The participants observed a minute of silence to honor all the warriors of the defense and security forces of Ukraine perished during the war with the Russian occupiers.
