During a working trip to the Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy laid flowers at the memorial to the JFO/ATO warriors perished in the battles for Avdiivka.
In 2021, the memorial received the status of a memorial sign.
"It is our duty to honor the memory of our Ukrainian heroes. And I am glad that after seven years of war, a corresponding symbol has finally appeared in this place - a sign of memory of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteer formations who died in the battles for Avdiivka. This is not an event or news. This is a norm. And it should be so. This is how it should be in every city and town of Ukraine, for which Ukrainian soldiers died, sacrificing the most important thing they had - their lives," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
