During her visit to the Dnipro region, First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the Kamianske lyceum, where canteens and kitchen facilities underwent major renovations as part of the School Nutrition Reform.
The modernization was funded by state subventions allocated by the Government last year. The funds were distributed equally among the regions. In total, 173 projects were successfully implemented.
Olena Zelenska emphasized that subventions provide a solid foundation for communities to supplement with their own resources and by involving foreign donors.
“All our children have the right to the best conditions for development and growth, and the Russian attack will not interfere with that,” the First Lady said.
She also recalled that in autumn, Ukraine hosted a European conference of the School Meals Coalition for the first time.
“We spoke about implementing the School Nutrition Reform while defending our country. It impressed our guests greatly: renovating canteens and kitchens, improving the menu and making it healthier under extreme conditions is something that no one else in the world has done before,” Olena Zelenska concluded.
