During a working visit to the United States, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the Arlington National Cemetery, where American war veterans, presidents, Supreme Court chairmen and astronauts are buried.
The President of Ukraine and his wife took part in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The national anthems of Ukraine and the United States were played.
Then the presidential couple visited the museum of the Memorial Complex. The commander of the Washington military garrison, Major General Allan Pepen showed Volodymyr and Olena Zelenskyy the museum's exposition.
The Head of State and the First Lady also laid flowers at the graves of the military of Ukrainian origin.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that many soldiers with Ukrainian surnames were buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, so he instructed Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova to organize a search operation involving volunteers, including Ukrainian students in the United States, to find out the life story of each of them.
