We would like to hear the opinion of people as regards possible negotiations with Russia - President

Submitting the issue of concluding peace agreement with Russia to a referendum does not have legislative initiative - it is a way to find out the opinion of society. It was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with public activists, which took place in the Administration of the Head of State. The meeting was attended by volunteers and former servicemen.

"We must hear every person. This is not a legislative referendum, but an advisory one: to know the opinion of citizens. This is a normal conversation with people," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that he wanted openness in discussing important issues for the country and did not want to make a decision behind the closed doors, as it was usual before.

The participants of the meeting agreed that it was rational to call it not a referendum, but a poll and dialogue with society.

For their part, the activists suggested the President hold meetings with representatives of the public on a regular basis.
