President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stands for the establishment of the agricultural land market model, under which only Ukrainian citizens and companies can buy or sell land.
During his speech at the conference on the land management reform “Land as a Factor in the Development of the Ukrainian Rural Area”, the Head of State emphasized that the issue of land sales is too sensitive and therefore requires wide public discussion. In particular, in order to find optimal and balanced solutions in the open land market model.
“There are some important points that I would like to emphasize. First and foremost: the land belongs to Ukrainians. In the model that we propose together with the government, only Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian companies can buy or sell land. Horror stories about Chinese, Arabs or aliens who will take our land out in wagons are a nonsense. Land is the property of citizens,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President notes that the list of countries where there is no land market is well-known: North Korea, Tajikistan, Venezuela, Cuba, Congo and Ukraine. "What country do we want to be?" he added.
“In the 21st century, the issue of citizens' ownership of land is rhetorical. We have only one task: to find the optimal model beneficial for ordinary Ukrainians. That's why we are here today. We will find this model, I am sure of this,” Volodymyrr Zelenskyy summed up.
