The main outcome of the meetings within the Third European Political Community Summit in Granada, Spain, is the important arrangements regarding the enhancement of Ukraine's air defense capabilities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this at a meeting with media representatives following the summit.
The Head of State said that, as Ukraine approaches the winter period, the most urgent issue for the country is strengthening its air defense to better protect Ukrainians from Russian terrorist attacks, similar to the one that occurred today in Kharkiv region.
Therefore, according to the President, the issue of enhancing air defense was the central topic of discussions for the Ukrainian delegation during its participation in the summit.
"I am very pleased that today, we have made significant progress in this direction. It includes six Hawk systems from Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the Spanish government. This will be a joint effort with partners under the leadership of Spain. I firmly believe that we will be able to gather all these systems, and they will all be delivered to Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Furthermore, as reported by the Head of State, the result of the meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz was the decision that the German government will work on providing an additional Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
"Right now, for this winter period. I believe this is currently the only system capable of countering such threats, such mass killings. Because the Patriot can intercept any missile from the Russian villain," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
