The state must create all conditions for the elderly who need care and support to be able to receive high-quality social services, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Now, given this, unfortunately, tragic case, everything must be done to address and prevent such situations," the President said after visiting the Kharkiv City Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital № 17, where the victims of the fire in the home for the elderly stay. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, legislative initiatives on the provision of social services that would regulate all the issues and allow both public and private institutions to work are needed.
"Simply resolving the Kharkiv situation is not enough. We do not know how many such facilities are in the state. Therefore, there will be legislative initiatives. People should receive normal, high-quality services. I think that both private and public services are needed. No matter how it sounds, we have to open a market of fair social services in Ukraine," the President said.
He also paid a visit to the citizens who were injured during the tragedy in the home for the elderly in Kharkiv. During a short conversation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy inquired about the health of the rescued and wished them a speedy recovery.
