President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with members of the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.
The Head of State introduced the leader of the Ukrainian delegation of the Group - President of Ukraine in 1994-2005 Leonid Kuchma. Leonid Kuchma has been representing Ukraine in the TCG in 2014-2018. At that time, full-scale hostilities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions have been ceased, more than 3 thousand Ukrainian military and civilians have been returned from captivity and restoration of the destroyed infrastructure of Donbas has been started.
The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects of intensifying the negotiation process and the steps necessary for this.
"We have exchanged views on what should be done first. The security issue is one of the main issues," Leonid Kuchma said. According to him, there are proposals that can help activate the Minsk process.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group also noted that there were issues that required a legislative settlement on the part of Ukraine. In addition, Leonid Kuchma noted that the cessation of hostilities would be initiated at the time of harvest.
