The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Ihor Zhovkva, met with NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Marie-Doha Besancenot.
Ihor Zhovkva informed her about the security situation in Ukraine, in particular about the Russian occupiers' offensive in the Kharkiv region and the intensification of missile attacks by the Russian aggressor state.
"Ukraine and the Ukrainian army have been protecting NATO's eastern flank for more than two years. We urgently need our air defense to be strengthened and the necessary military aid from the member states to be delivered as soon as possible,' Ihor Zhovkva noted.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President emphasized that it is important for Ukraine that the Summit adopts strong decisions on our country's movement towards NATO membership.
Apart from that, Ihor Zhovkva spoke about the signing of bilateral agreements with partner countries that should ensure Ukraine's comprehensive security until it becomes a NATO member. Our country has already signed such documents with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland and Latvia.
