Fedir Venislavsky: The Constitutional Court confirmed the validity of the presidential decree on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada

Representative of the President in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Fedir Venislavsky commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court as regards the constitutionality of the presidential decree on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada.

"In preparing the presidential decree on the early termination of the powers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the legal validity of all the provisions was verified as thoroughly as possible and there were no doubts as to the unconstitutionality of the decree as a whole or its separate provisions. By its decision, the Constitutional Court only confirmed the validity of our legal position," Representative of the President in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Fedir Venislavsky noted.

The Representative of the President in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine added that the Constitutional Court had demonstrated independence, impartiality and commitment to the spirit of the Constitution and the idea of the rule of law.

Thus, Fedir Venislavsky stressed, snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada will take place on July 21, as stated in the presidential decree. The electoral process is continued.
