In the presence of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova and Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the State of Utah.
The document states the intention to develop cooperation in economy, agriculture, energy, healthcare and environment, science, technology, art, culture and humanitarian sphere.
The memorandum was established to increase trade between the Kyiv region and the State of Utah, promote innovation, strengthen business ties, and create joint projects and jobs. It includes separate clauses on the provision of charitable, humanitarian, and social services.
Other priority areas are aerospace and defense industries, software and information technology, education, and tourism.
The parties are to appoint members to form working groups that will hold regular consultations on issues of common interest and open opportunities for mutual benefit.
The Memorandum was signed to promote partnership between the Ukrainian and American regions. Last May, a delegation from Utah, led by State Senate President Stuart Adams, visited Kyiv and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Government officials.
Currently, about 4,000 Ukrainians live in Utah, including 2,500 refugees.
