Ukraine wants to see Belarus as an independent country where human rights are respected, but does not interfere in the internal affairs of the neighboring state, as stated by Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak during Savik Shuster's Freedom of Speech TV program on Friday.
According to him, Alexander Lukashenko today cannot represent the will of the entire Belarusian people.
"Lukashenko is not the Belarusian people. We must always remember that there is a Belarusian people. There is a nation with which Ukraine has friendly relations. Therefore, today the government must weigh everything, be wise, strong," the Head of the President's Office said.
Andriy Yermak stressed that Belarus is our neighbor, so Ukraine very closely monitors the events taking place in this country, but does not interfere in them.
"Undoubtedly, it is in the interests of Ukraine that Belarus is an independent country, free of any influence, where human rights are respected in the first place," he said.
According to the Head of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacts very timely to the statements and actions of the Belarusian authorities. At the same time, any actions that may be perceived as interference in the internal affairs of Belarus can then be used not only against Ukraine, but also against the Belarusian people.
