Canada Announced New CAD 500 Million Military Assistance Package for Ukraine

During a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau condemned the recent Russian missile attack on Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Canada emphasized his country's willingness to provide the necessary medical support to the victims of the Russian strike on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv and announced a new, additional package of military assistance to Ukraine worth CAD 500 million.

"It is very important for our people to hear this. Thank you for your help, for the additional defense package. It will strengthen our heroes on the battlefield," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The leaders discussed Ukraine's defense needs and coordinated cooperation within the coalition of fighter jets.

The President spoke about the need to expand training missions for Ukrainian pilots. The parties exchanged views on the possibility of additional training of Ukrainian pilots on Canadian flight simulators and holding one of the thematic meetings in Canada following the first Peace Summit.
