This year, the educational app “Mriia” will become a nationwide platform. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his speech during a presentation of the app’s new functionality.
The Head of State emphasized that the app is a tool for modern and truly high-quality education, and expressed gratitude to those who made it possible: the team that developed “Mriia” and ensures its operation, as well as all educators working in Ukraine and for Ukrainian children.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded the audience that “Mriia” was launched as a pilot project last year. Since then, 40 schools from six regions – Odesa, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, and Ivano-Frankivsk – have joined the platform. This allowed developers to gather feedback and improve the app.
“‘Mriia’ simplifies the learning process in schools and does so in a systemic way. It enables children in all parts of our large country – from frontline communities to every city, village, and school – to have equal and full access to education,” the President said.
According to the Head of State, over a thousand schools from across the country have already submitted applications to join “Mriia,” and all of them will be accepted. In total, the state plans to connect thousands more schools by the end of this year. Moreover, starting this year, “Mriia” is scaling up nationwide and expanding. One of the key new initiatives is a pilot project called “Preschool Education.”
“This solution addresses real needs: educators will receive ready-to-use materials and automated planning; administrations will gain paperless analytics and record-keeping; and parents will have full transparency regarding their child’s time in preschool, along with peace of mind,” the President said.
Next, “Mriia” will expand to cover extracurricular education. The app will allow users to register and schedule activities such as clubs, gyms, swimming pools, museums, and libraries.
Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that among the solutions that still need to be developed, a top priority is additional safety features specifically for children. According to him, students must have a tool that allows them to report cases of bullying.
“Being able to ask for help should be as simple as possible – and confidential, if needed. Most importantly, there must be trust and real protection for every child,” the President emphasized.
Another task is finding a way to involve Ukrainian children living abroad, so that Ukrainian educational opportunities are available to Ukrainian children wherever they are in the world.
The Head of State also highlighted that expansion to vocational and higher education is already planned, and it is essential to implement this in the coming year.
