Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with Director General of the European Union Military Staff, Commander of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine, Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan.
Ihor Zhovkva noted the effective work of the EU Mission, which over the year of its operation has successfully trained about 34 thousand Ukrainian servicemen in various areas of basic, collective and special training.
"The EU Military Assistance Mission is proving its effectiveness and importance in practice. We are grateful to the EU and all member states that are already training our military and strengthening Ukraine's defense potential," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian servicemen trained within the EU Mission play an important role in conducting successful offensive actions to liberate the temporarily occupied territories of our country.
The prospects for further expanding the range and scope of training of the Ukrainian military within this Mission were discussed.
Ihor Zhovkva also expressed hope that the issue of allocating a new tranche of assistance worth EUR 500 million under the European Peace Facility to further support the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be unblocked shortly.
"Dynamic continuation and maximum acceleration of defense and military-technical assistance from our European partners is a key factor of success in our fight on the battlefield," the Head of the Presidential Office said.
