Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Levente Magyar.

Ihor Zhovkva informed the interlocutor in detail about the consequences of the Russian military invasion, regular missile attacks on civilian objects throughout the territory of Ukraine, as well as about the terrible barbaric crimes against the civilian population in the occupied cities.

"I am convinced that what you saw in Bucha and Borodyanka will allow you to better understand the essence of this war in the center of Europe and its possible consequences for the entire continent," he emphasized.

The parties discussed the introduction by the European Union of the seventh package of sanctions against Russia. The Deputy Head of the President's Office emphasized the need to maintain a consensus among EU countries regarding the further strengthening of sanctions pressure.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked for the humanitarian aid that Hungary provides to Ukraine, as well as for the support for temporarily displaced Ukrainians who have found shelter on the territory of this country. He called on the interlocutor for greater coordination in this area, and also invited the Hungarian side to participate in the reconstruction of the affected regions and cities of Ukraine.

Further deepening of the interaction of our state with the European Union after obtaining the status of a candidate country was also on the agenda of the meeting. The Deputy Head of the President's Office expressed gratitude to Hungary for supporting this historic decision of the European Council.

"Ukraine is determined to implement the recommendations of the European Commission without undue delay in order to start accession negotiations. We count on further support from Hungary on this path," Ihor Zhovkva emphasized.
