Ihor Zhovkva met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Kyllike Sillaste-Elling.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked Estonia for its unprecedented level of support for Ukraine, particularly in the area of military aid. He also emphasized the extremely important EU initiative proposed by the Republic of Estonia to find ways to supply one million artillery rounds for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, in which Estonia is a reliable partner of our country.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office spoke about Ukraine's progress in implementing the European Commission's recommendations. He emphasized that our country expects to secure a decision on the start of negotiations on accession to the EU this year. The parties also discussed preparations for the next week's European Council meeting and its expected results in the context of Ukraine's interests.

Ihor Zhovkva conveyed to the Estonian partners Ukraine's expectations from the NATO Summit in Vilnius. He noted that our country counts on practical decisions of the Alliance that will ensure further progress on the track of Euro-Atlantic integration this summer already.

The parties also discussed Estonia's participation in the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. In this context, the parties positively noted the country's readiness to participate in the implementation of the justice restoration clause, which includes the establishment of a special tribunal to bring Russia to justice for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

Ihor Zhovkva and Kyllike Sillaste-Elling discussed in detail the need to further strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia, in particular the importance of expanding sanctions on Russia's nuclear energy sector and preventing the circumvention of the already imposed restrictions, including through third countries.

Ihor Zhovkva thanked the Estonian side for its leadership in developing a mechanism for using confiscated Russian assets for the further recovery of our country.
