Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva had a phone call with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Romania Bogdan Aurescu.
Ihor Zhovkva congratulated Bogdan Aurescu on his appointment as Foreign Policy Advisor and wished him success in his future work. The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office thanked the interlocutor for supporting Ukraine during his time as Foreign Minister of Romania.
Ihor Zhovkva expressed his gratitude for the strong political support and important practical assistance Romania provides to our country in the fight against Russian aggression, as well as in the implementation of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration course.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office also informed Bogdan Aurescu about Ukraine's expectations from the Vilnius Summit of the North Atlantic Alliance.
"The Vilnius Summit should demonstrate real progress in bringing Ukraine closer to NATO membership and in Ukraine's obtaining of effective security guarantees for the period until we join the Alliance," emphasized Ihor Zhovkva.
Bogdan Aurescu confirmed the readiness of the Romanian side to discuss the provision of such guarantees, as stated in the Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Ukraine and Romania of June 1 this year.
In addition, the Deputy Head of the President's Office informed the interlocutor about the results of multilateral consultations in Copenhagen at the level of national security and political advisors in the context of the implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and preparations for the Global Peace Summit.
The parties agreed to prepare further possible contacts at the level of the Presidents of Ukraine and Romania.
