Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a telephone conversation with Director of the diplomatic office of the Prime Minister of the Greek Republic Anna Maria Bura.
Zhovkva expressed gratitude for the clear position of the Greek Republic in support of Ukraine, which it has taken since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine's movement towards full membership in the EU and NATO.
"We are successfully approaching the completion of the seven recommendations of the European Commission and expect a final positive assessment of our homework in the autumn. In this context, we hope to receive a decision on the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU by the end of this year. We count on the consistent support of our state from Greece on the path of integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic communities," the deputy head of the Office of the President said.
The parties also focused on the need to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor state, in particular, the preparation of the next, 12th, package of EU sanctions against Russia.
Zhovkva thanked the Greek side for joining the Joint Declaration of the G7 leaders regarding the provision of security guarantees to our country.
The need to involve other countries of the Balkan region in guaranteeing the security of our state was also discussed.
"Ukraine already has a successful experience of cooperation with the countries of Northern Europe in these matters. And we are ready for appropriate coordination with the states of the Balkan Peninsula, with which we share a common path to the EU and a common responsibility for ensuring security in the region," the deputy head of the President's Office said.
The interlocutors coordinated the schedule of contacts at the leadership level for the near future.
