Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held an online conversation with Helen Blake, Assistant Secretary for the EU and International Division at the Department of the Taoiseach of Ireland.
Ihor Zhovkva briefed the Irish side on the security situation in Ukraine in the context of countering Russian armed aggression against our country.
The interlocutors focused on the Ukrainian side's vision of the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.
"We are open to proposals from other countries on the implementation of the Peace Formula proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, provided that these countries respect international law and the UN Charter and preserve the Ukrainian vision of the Peace Formula as the basis for its implementation," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the "Grain from Ukraine" humanitarian initiative, which is extremely important for many countries of the Global South. Ihor Zhovkva emphasized the intention of the Ukrainian side to continue implementing this initiative given the high dependence of many countries on Ukrainian food.
Ihor Zhovkva and Helen Blake separately discussed Ukraine's further steps towards accession to the EU and the state of adaptation of EU law.
"Ukraine is successfully fulfilling its part of the work on the rapprochement with the EU. We count on Ireland's support for the European Council's decision to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession this year based on the positive final assessment of the European Commission," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office said.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the EU sanctions policy and ways to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. In particular, they discussed the need to further expand sanctions on dual-use goods.
The parties coordinated a schedule of contacts at the highest level for the near future.
