Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held online consultations with Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Estonia Lauri Kuusing.
The interlocutors discussed measures taken in Ukraine and Estonia in the context of overcoming the next wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring adequate protection of the population, as well as the implementation of vaccination of citizens with high-quality certified vaccines.
Lauri Kuusing noted that the Estonian leadership and personally President Kersti Kaljulaid regularly raise the issue of providing access to coronavirus vaccines to partner countries as soon as possible within the European Union.
The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine informed the interlocutor of the current security situation in the east of our country, as well as the steps taken by Ukraine to ensure lasting peace and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
He thanked Tallinn for its unwavering position in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
The parties discussed in detail the cooperation between the two countries in the context of implementing Ukraine's strategic course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration. In this regard, there was an exchange of views on the importance of fixing the European prospect of Ukraine and Estonia’s support of the relevant efforts of our state.
The algorithm of further bilateral cooperation in the context of the prospect of Ukraine receiving the NATO Membership Action Plan was also discussed.
Ihor Zhovkva stressed that in August 2021, as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, a large-scale event will take place - the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform, to which world leaders are invited, including Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine informed Lauri Kuusing of the main elements of the Crimean Platform and Ukraine's expectations from the summit.
At the end of the talks, the interlocutors stated their mutual readiness to further support the high dynamics of the bilateral dialogue.
