Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva had a phone call with National Security Advisor of the Kingdom of Sweden Henrik Landerholm.
Ihor Zhovkva congratulated Sweden on its accession to NATO on March 6, 2024, and thanked for the continued support of our country's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The diplomats discussed the current security situation in Ukraine in view of the recent massive attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure by the Russian Federation, including with ballistic missiles.
The interlocutors paid special attention to Ukraine's European integration and the extension of autonomous trade benefits for our country for another year.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office informed the Swedish side of the latest steps taken by Ukraine to complete the implementation of the four recommendations of the European Commission outlined in the framework of the 2023 Enlargement Package.
"We count on Sweden's support in approving the Negotiating Framework by the European Council in June and convening the first intergovernmental conference that will launch the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the EU," emphasized Ihor Zhovkva.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Sweden on cooperation in the security sector and agreed on the need to start the negotiation process between the teams of the two countries as soon as possible.
Ihor Zhovkva and Henrik Landerholm also coordinated a schedule of contacts at the highest level.
