Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held online consultations with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev.
The interlocutors discussed measures taken in Ukraine and Azerbaijan to counter the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and to vaccinate citizens.
Ihor Zhovkva spoke about the security situation in the east of our country, as well as about Ukraine's efforts to ensure peace. During the conversation, the parties also talked about the situation on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea. The Deputy Head of the President's Office thanked Azerbaijan for its continued support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, Hikmet Hajiyev praised the inclusion of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the list of strategic partners of Ukraine in the National Security Strategy, which was approved in 2020. He thanked for Ukraine's firm position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.
The interlocutors discussed the current security situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and exchanged views on the contribution that Ukraine can make to the restoration of the infrastructure of the deoccupied territories and the economy of Azerbaijan.
Ihor Zhovkva and Hikmet Hajiyev also coordinated actions for further high-level bilateral dialogue activities this year.
