Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva had a phone conversation with diplomatic advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic Jana Kobzova.

Ihor Zhovkva informed about the escalation of the security situation in eastern Ukraine, noting a significant increase in the number of ceasefire violations and the increase of the Russian military contingent along the Ukrainian-Russian border. The interlocutors agreed on the importance of political pressure on Russia in order to make Moscow comply with its obligations under the Minsk agreements.

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and the diplomatic advisor to the President of Slovakia discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Slovak Republic in September 2020.

In this context Ihor Zhovkva stressed the importance of resuming the full functioning of Uzhhorod International Airport as soon as possible. The progress in resolving technical issues related to the implementation of the Ukrainian-Slovak Agreement on the Functioning of Uzhhorod Airport was positively assessed.

"Ukraine has done everything necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement. I hope that in the near future the relevant internal procedures will also be completed in Slovakia, and the arrival of planes in Uzhhorod will be resumed," said the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the issues of Ukraine's European integration. Ihor Zhovkva noted that Ukraine highly appreciates Slovakia's support for our country's European aspirations and expressed hope for deepening cooperation with Bratislava on the implementation of Ukraine's European integration course.

Ihor Zhovkva and Jana Kobzova also discussed measures of political dialogue at the highest level for the near future. In particular, they exchanged views on the preparations for the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform scheduled for August 23 in Kyiv. Ihor Zhovkva expressed hope for the participation of President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová in this event.
