Ukraine must strengthen its positions both on the battlefield and in the diplomatic sphere, developing a plan to end the war that would meet Ukrainian interests. This was emphasized by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference in the framework of the forum "Ukraine. Year 2024".
"As for the summit. We believe that it is only right to get stronger on the battlefield, and it depends on us, our production and our partners. It is equally right to get stronger diplomatically. We do not want any negotiation formats or peace formulas to be imposed on us by countries that are not here today, not at war. It is very important for the initiative to come only from Ukraine," the Head of State emphasized.
He reminded that at the G20 Summit in Indonesia, Ukraine had come up with a diplomatic initiative and proposed a Peace Formula, which it is working hard to implement. According to the President, the first peace summit may be held in Switzerland this spring. Within the framework of this meeting, a plan will be elaborated and subsequently a joint document will be prepared, which will then be handed over to the Russian side.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the negotiators would present the document to the Russian side, and thus there would be an opportunity to hold a second peace summit and prepare for appropriate diplomatic steps to achieve a just peace and end the war.
