Government officials should give precedence to national producers in public procurement. It was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the visit to “O. M. Makarov Production Association Southern Machine-Building Plant” State Enterprise in Dnipro.
The Head of State heard a complaint from the staff of the enterprise that the city authorities of Kyiv hadn’t paid for the trams supplied to the city. Volodymyr Zelenskyy called mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko immediately.
“They completed the order, yet people didn’t get paid. They turned to the President and I’m calling you now,” he said during the phone conversation.
“However, arrears is not the key issue, although I urge you to repay the debt. The key issue is that they wanted to take part in a tender, but its qualification requirements have been written in such a way that the Ukrainian producer cannot take part in it. It means that the conditions are set for the supply from abroad. Please, settle the issue of finance. And we will have a separate conversation as regards the use of our national producer, which should be a priority for us,” the President noted.
