President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commended the decision of the European Union to pay Ukraine the first tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 600 million euros.
The issue of providing macro-financial assistance to Ukraine to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic was the subject of special attention of the Head of State during his telephone contacts over the year with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and talks with EU leaders within the 22nd Ukraine-EU Summit on October 6, 2020.
"I am deeply grateful to our partners in the EU and personally to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis for their special contribution and support of our country in difficult times. This gesture of assistance is another manifestation of solidarity of European partners with Ukraine and support of our efforts to further implement reforms," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian government is determined to continue reforms in order to implement European standards in all spheres of life, strengthen the economy and improve the welfare of Ukrainians. The fulfillment of the Association Agreement is a guideline for the implementation of the necessary transformations and a tool to further deepen the integration between Ukraine and the EU.
